Zabbix is a software package that monitors a wide range of network parameters 

as well as the health and integrity of servers. Zabbix uses a flexible notification mechanism that allows users to configure an e-mail alert base for virtually any event. This enables a rapid response to server problems. Zabbix offers excellent reporting and data visualisation capabilities based on stored data. This makes Zabbix ideal for capacity planning.

Zabbix supports both polling and trapping. 

All reports and statistics, as well as parameter configuration, are accessible via the web interface. The web interface ensures that the status of your network and servers can be assessed from any location. Correctly configured, Zabbix can play an important role in IT infrastructure monitoring. This is as true for small organisations with few servers as it is for large companies with a multitude of servers.
